Yum Yum yum

we went on opening night, without a reso, and the place was packed. Long and narrow, the setup is pretty similar to the old Freehouse, with the bar along one wall at the back.

There was no room at the bar but luckily there was one table available. Service was casual & friendly by our server who used to work at Vittoria Trattoria & the Standard. There were a few other familiar faces working and eating as well, such as a local farmer who came in with a basket of delicious fresh, local strawberries and stayed for a drink.

Despite the usual opening-day kinks, the service and food were fast & friendly. The dry martini came with the olives (which were HUGE) on the side, and the printer had a bit of trouble (it was unplugged) and the best mistake was that the kitchen sent 2 panna cotta’s instead of one – DARN.

We had intended to just come for a drink but ended up trying the Nudi & the Panzanella, which were both great. There was a third veg option that we didn’t try, but were happy with the selection (The person I was with was veg).

I fear the space will be difficult in the winter, with it’s long narrow shape and door & large window at the front. The door will be cold (although luckily there are 2) and the window may be drafty, so I think Patrons will probably avoid sitting near the front, (there are about 4 tables really close to the front/window), making it look empty to the passerby.

All in all I was really impressed with everything. The Chef is a pastry chef by trade so make sure you save room for desert.
